Hanukkah Countdown With Dreidel Fun

Hanukkah is just over a week away and I have cards to address, presents to wrap, and of course crafting to do!  But that doesn’t mean we can’t do an abbreviated countdown this year.  And thanks to the length of this year’s countdown, I’ve managed to include a nice little refresher on how to play dreidel should you have forgotten (or your kids are trying to make up the rules!)

Teal was the winning color this year – I think it was just my Peacock menorah calling to me.  Once again I used Microsoft Publisher and picked some fun fonts: California Harvest and Ostrich Sans Rounded. I once again decided to use the letters of the dreidel: Nun, Gimmel, Hey and Shin to decorate this year’s calendar using Arial font.  I decided not to create new stickers this year and just use some fun sparkly dreidel ones we had in my stash but you can always print some from previous years (2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012).  Or, you can always grab whatever pen is handy and cross off the days as we go. This year, I again printed the calendar on my favorite Neenah Solar White cardstock .

I decided to keep last year’s “twist” to the calendar and designated the Mondays as “Mitzvah Mondays.”  A not-so-subtle reminder for my now eight year old to think beyond just his own wants (i.e. presents) this holiday season.   Bible Belt Balabusta has a fabulous mitzvah chart if you need some ideas.

Without further ado, here is this year’s Countdown to Hanukkah Calendar for your printing pleasure!

Hoping to return with at least a couple more Hanukkah posts if time permits.  For now, happy counting!
